Italian MotoGP world champion Marco Simoncelli remains top of the MotoGP standings but Pecco Bagnaia is the fastest of the race’s rising stars.

The 20-year-old Italian became the first Italian ever to win a grand prix in a World Superbike race after he took the race victory in Britain.

Simoncelli and Juan Francisco Esteve de Alba are the two other riders in the top ten.

In the Moto2 class, Honda’s Lorenzo Gentil was ahead of Northern Ireland’s Shane Byrne.

Austrian rider Stefan Bradl took the pole position for the Moto3 race.

The 15 riders to have made it through to the first corner are: Andrea Dovizioso (YR – Ducati) Cal Crutchlow (GB – LCR Honda) Dani Pedrosa (ESP – Repsol Honda) Lorenzo Gutierrez (ARG – RCF Yamaha) Leon Camier (FRA – Energia Honda) Maverick Vinales (ESP – Yamaha Tech 3)

The top nine riders are represented by Ducati, Ducati Tech 3, Yamaha Tech 3, Honda and Honda YZR-M1.

There are four British riders on the grid. LCR Honda rider Shane Byrne sits sixth, Nicky Hayden is 11th and Andrew Davis is 12th.

Marquez grabs pole in Misano

Ivan Lintin from Marc VDS and Strop Roquez from ETCL Rok-SKY Racing are the other two riders sitting out of the first qualifying session.

The top five in Moto2 are Nico Hernandez, Alexander Mansell, Justin Terney, Juan Diego Castillo and Alvaro Bautista.

Sebastian Heisele from Omega Honda is the pole sitter for the Moto3 race.
