Biden sexually harassed me. As a newly hired intern in the Obama White House, I traveled back to Washington after my college graduation to go back to my internship and start work on a piece for Vice. Biden stopped his campaign bus in a construction site in the middle of nowhere during rush hour and personally came into my office where I was working in the basement of the Treasury Building. In my 20s, I was somehow thinking, “Yeah, he wants to give me a hug,” but he grabbed me inappropriately. The senator grabbed me from behind and rubbed my shoulders. He stopped short in order to throw me the shoe thing. I ended up covering that on my Twitter account. He knew I was only a junior intern but continued to grope me. In an office full of young women — and there were a lot of them — we could all see that we had just witnessed the senator blatantly harass a young woman who was going to be one of our future leaders. He was powerful, so he spoke with authority. In this moment, I was quite afraid. Biden did not hesitate to take away my dignity by grabbing me and saying things I’ll never forget.
Biden also made her a gift to remember him by – his trademark shoe tool that he gave me after the event. It was hideous.
