As you might imagine, having a computer write everything you say aloud was never quite how I envisioned my dream job in AI. But after spending some time with the new GIF-shifting generator called TikTok , I’m pretty sure I’ve got it for a job.
Up until last week, a good old melody had filled my head. But having had my brain read this column by turning the words into Disney-sized musical licks, I’m having to improvise a little more now. Better still, I get to see how people are really feeling in the comments below every article I write. That’s unlike any other job I’ve ever had.

While TikTok’s job description makes it sound like it’s capable of creating our next music appreciation class, it is not yet a writer. At least, I can’t get this app to cut and paste my headlines — I can read the headlines on my phone, but any of my half-written articles look up. For now. I can, however, turn the words into melodies that are, you guessed it, playable for anyone to play with.
I’d love to see some of the other readers on the series post their tributes to the interview, but they may be too busy visiting the bathroom.
